What to do and what not to do during pregnancy

Pregnancy is a special period where a woman is responsible not only for her health but also for the development of a new life within her. At this stage, it is particularly important to understand which habits and behaviors can be dangerous and which, on the contrary, promote a healthy pregnancy. It is necessary to discuss all individual aspects with a gynecologist-obstetrician, but there is a list of general recommendations that are useful for all future moms.

Harmful factors and risks to avoid

It is advisable to start preparing for pregnancy in advance, several months before the planned conception. Choosing a healthy lifestyle and habits helps the woman's body adapt to the upcoming changes. Many daily activities that are acceptable in normal life become potentially dangerous during pregnancy.

At the top of the list of prohibitions are smoking and alcohol consumption. These substances increase the risk of fetal hypoxia, premature birth, and severe congenital malformations. Fetal alcohol syndrome, caused even by small doses of alcohol, is particularly dangerous. The intake of any medication, even over-the-counter, must be strictly monitored by a doctor.

Overheating should also be avoided: hot baths, saunas. Prolonged exposure to the sun can lead to an increase in body temperature, which negatively affects fetal development. Physical activity is allowed, but excessive exertion, lifting heavy loads, and extreme training can pose dangers.

Emotional stability is an important factor. Chronic stress disrupts hormonal balance, deteriorates general well-being, and can have repercussions on the course of pregnancy. Additionally, it is advisable to limit contact with aggressive household chemicals and to minimize prolonged use and close proximity to devices emitting electromagnetic waves.

How to stay healthy and feel good during pregnancy

Pregnancy is not a reason to give up a fulfilling life. With a reasonable approach, a woman can remain active, feel confident, and be in harmony with herself. This stability relies on a comprehensive approach, ranging from nutrition to inner state.

The diet should be balanced: proteins, vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids are necessary for both the mother and the child. Special attention should be paid to folic acid, iron, calcium, and omega-3s. Hydration also plays a key role: the body needs enough fluid to maintain its metabolic processes.

Physical activity improves blood circulation and muscle tone. Walking, yoga, swimming, or exercise for pregnant women have a beneficial effect on physical and emotional state. However, any physical activity should be moderate and tailored to each woman.

The psycho-emotional well-being of the future mom influences the course of pregnancy. Support from loved ones, participation in creative activities, reading, music, and simply pleasant conversations help maintain a good mood and confidence. Harmony and positivity have a direct impact on the well-being of the woman and the development of the baby.

Regular medical check-ups are an important element of pregnancy monitoring. Routine tests, ultrasounds, and consultations allow for monitoring the condition of the mother and the fetus, responding quickly to any changes, and minimizing risks.

Good personal hygiene, including skin and oral care, helps prevent infections and stay healthy. It is advisable to use only safe cosmetics and hygiene products during pregnancy, hypoallergenic and free from harmful additives.

Preparation for childbirth is also very important. Classes, conferences, discussions with the doctor, and reading literature on the subject all contribute to reducing anxiety and forming a clear idea of the childbirth process. The woman feels more confident and ready to meet her child.

Pregnancy after natural conception and ART: differences in recommendations

Although most recommendations apply to all pregnant women, those who conceived through assisted reproductive technology (ART), including IVF In Vitro Fertilization, IVF with egg donation, IVF with double donation, require closer monitoring. These pregnancies may carry additional risks, particularly in women with low ovarian reserve or age-related characteristics.

At the "Natuvitro" reproduction clinic, the mode of conception is taken into account when developing individual recommendations. Patients who have undergone IVF often continue to receive hormonal support at the beginning of their pregnancy, and their physical activity may be limited for a longer period. This ensures the safest possible conditions for the development of the embryo.

It is important for the clinic's doctors to consider the woman's entire medical history, from the causes of infertility to the specifics of embryo transfer. This personalized approach allows for establishing an optimal pregnancy path and significantly increases the chances of success.

Regardless of the conception method, the most important thing is support, attention, and professional guidance at all stages of pregnancy. This is the guarantee of the health of the mother and the future child.
