What is In Vitro Fertilization with donor eggs?

Women's eggs are fascinating cells that, once fertilized, allow for the creation of a new life. Girls are already born with several million immature eggs, an ovarian reserve that naturally decreases, with the loss accelerating when they reach their thirties. As the quantity of eggs decreases, so does their quality: Age directly affects the ability of each egg to become a viable embryo and then a baby.

However, thanks to In Vitro Fertilization with donor eggs, hundreds of thousands of women and couples around the world have been able to continue growing their families despite having depleted their own ovarian reserve. What does In Vitro Fertilization with donor eggs consist of?

FIRST VISIT

It all starts with a first visit with a specialist that can be in person or remote, and that at NatuVitro is free.

DIAGNOSIS

Once the explorations and corresponding diagnosis have been completed, we create a detailed profile that includes the physical characteristics of the recipient and, if applicable, your partner. This way, when you have made the decision to start your treatment, our donor team can immediately begin the search for a woman between 18 and 34 years old whose hair color, eye color, skin color, physical constitution, and blood type are compatible.

DONOR TEAM

At NatuVitro we have our own team with extensive experience in finding the best possible donor. It is important for you to know that, by law, in Spain neither you nor your donor will know each other's identity. Egg donation here is completely anonymous and altruistic.

DONOR CANDIDATES

We explain in detail the donation process to the selected candidates, and we start a complete battery of medical tests, psychological interviews, and clinical analysis that allow us to discard diseases, genetic incompatibilities, or psychological aspects that could be transmitted to the future baby.

DURATION

This process usually takes about a month.

PREPARATION

Once we have the best donor for you, we will inform you when we start her stimulation treatment. If you wish and it is possible, we can opt for a transfer in your natural cycle.

FERTILIZATION and CULTIVATION

When she is ready, we proceed to the extraction of a limited number of her eggs, and we prepare them immediately in our IVF laboratory. Here we fertilize them with a viable sperm, and then we deposit them in a state-of-the-art incubator that will allow us to monitor their development until they reach the blastocyst stage, which usually occurs after five days.

Embryo transfer

The long-awaited moment has arrived, the transfer is a magical, fast, usually painless moment, carried out by the same doctor who has followed the entire treatment: At NatuVitro, if you have a partner, they can be by your side in that special moment. The transfer itself lasts just a few minutes, after which you can rest peacefully in your private space, and from that moment on, you can lead a practically normal life.

We would like to inform you that the beta-wait period, the time from the transfer until the pregnancy test, is a moment filled with hope, excitement, and also nerves, in which we can do nothing more than wait for nature to take its course.

Blastocyst Guarantee

In some Assisted Reproduction centers, a specific number of eggs per treatment is still proposed. But nowadays, in the most advanced clinics, we go one step further and offer you the guarantee that you will have a specific number of blastocysts.

What advantage does this approach have?

We call a blastocyst the embryo that we have been able to monitor its development for five days until it is in its pre-implantation stage in the future mother's uterus. That is, we know that its morphology, maturation, and evolution have been correct. The sum of these factors is indicative of a good prognosis.

In the traditional approach, having a specific number of eggs does not guarantee that you will have one or more viable embryos, as not all eggs survive laboratory procedures. In fact, naturally, only 50% of embryos reach the blastocyst stage.

In other words, at NatuVitro, we will have used all the eggs that have been necessary to guarantee you a specific number of blastocysts for transfer. Depending on the treatment, we vitrify the blastocysts that we do not implant in the first attempt at -196 degrees so that they remain intact and available for when you need them.

How much does an IVF treatment with egg donation cost?

Who is your egg donor?

According to Spanish law, egg donation, like any organ or biological tissue donation, is anonymous and altruistic. This means that neither the donor nor the recipient can know the identity of the other person. Once you are known to your doctor at NatuVitro, along with your partner if you have one, and your donor, it will be your doctor's responsibility to ensure the maximum compatibility between both parties, as well as the safety and well-being of both.
