In what cases is it indicated?

Severe Semen Pathology: When the partner's semen exhibits significant pathological characteristics, particularly in conjunction with poor outcomes from in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Azoospermia: In cases where there is a complete absence of spermatozoa in both the ejaculate and testicular biopsy, a condition known as azoospermia. This condition often necessitates assisted reproductive techniques such as sperm donation.
Genetic Diseases: If the male partner carries a genetic disease that cannot be effectively studied in embryos, opting for sperm donation can mitigate the risk of passing on the genetic disorder to offspring.
Sexually Transmitted Diseases: When the male partner is a carrier of a sexually transmitted disease and it is not feasible to eliminate the virus from the semen, sperm donation can provide a safer alternative for conception.
Chromosomal Abnormalities: Detection of chromosomal abnormalities in the semen may prompt the consideration of sperm donation to avoid potential genetic complications in offspring.
Blood Group Incompatibility: In instances where the male partner has a positive blood group in a homozygous state, and the female partner has a negative blood group coupled with isoimmunization (production of antibodies attacking the red blood cells of the fetus with a positive blood group), sperm donation may be recommended to mitigate the risk of hemolytic disease of the newborn.

Patients seeking semen from a donor are required to provide the following information:

Medical and Gynecological History: A comprehensive record of their previous medical and gynecological history to assist in assessing their overall health and reproductive status.

Treatment History: Documentation of any prior fertility treatments received at other medical facilities, aiding in understanding the patient's fertility journey and treatment outcomes.

Serology Reports: Current serological tests for hepatitis B and C, syphilis, and HIV/AIDS for both partners, ensuring the safety and health of both the recipients and potential offspring.

Blood Group and Rh Factor: Blood group and Rh factor information for both partners, essential for assessing compatibility and potential risks during pregnancy.

Request Form and Informed Consent: Completion and signature of the request form and informed consent for undergoing assisted reproduction treatment using donor semen. This document outlines the patient's characteristics and preferences, assisting the laboratory in selecting the most suitable donor for the individual's needs and preferences.
